On April 8, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, signed a letter of intent with Namangan, Uzbekistan, establishing a friendship city relationship and further expanding its global network. This brings Guiyang's total number of sister and friendship cities to 31.
The agreement marks a new starting point for deeper trade, industry, education, culture and tourism cooperation. The partnership aims to deliver tangible benefits to both communities and contribute to building a shared future between China and Uzbekistan.
Namangan, capital of the Namangan Region, is located in the northern part of the Fergana Valley. It covers about 101.5 square kilometers and has a population of about 365,000, making it Uzbekistan's fourth-largest city. It is also Guiyang's first friendship city in Central Asia.
