Han Liyun, director of Guiyang Foreign Affairs Office, and Bernadia Tjandradewi, secretary general of UCLG ASPAC Secretariat, attended the meeting and delivered speeches.
The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on international conferences, cultural and tourism industries, youth exchanges, and sports cooperation, reaching several preliminary cooperation agreements.
First, they will invite representatives from the governments and enterprises of UCLG member cities to Guiyang to discuss cooperation in the digital economy and ecological environmental protection industries.
Second, they will coordinate with culture and tourism departments, as well as travel agencies from member cities, to organize on-site tours and promote the "Cool Guiyang" city brand internationally.
Third, they will utilize established youth exchange programs and invite young people from member cities to participate in the youth study tours in 2026.
Fourth, they will leverage Guiyang's economic strengths in hosting sports events, inviting member cities to participate in activities such as marathons, rock climbing, and weiqi tournaments, while also creating additional "friendship city + sports" events.
Guiyang joined UCLG in August 2020. UCLG is the world's largest international organization uniting cities and local governments. Since its establishment in Barcelona, Spain, in 2004, it has attracted a wide range of members, covering 240,000 cities, towns, regions, and metropolises worldwide, as well as 175 members from national and local government associations.
