Guizhou South Dairy Co has received import permission for milk and dairy beverages from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, marking the first time a Guizhou-based dairy company has obtained a Hong Kong dairy import qualification.
The Hong Kong-Guizhou Cultural Exchange Fund and Guiyang Agricultural Investment and Development Group (GAID) reached an initial cooperation agreement in March 2025 to promote quality Guizhou specialty agricultural products in Hong Kong. That June, GAID brought several local products to a market carnival organized by Hong Kong's federations of provincial community organizations, including milk from Guizhou South Dairy Co, cili juice, and local snacks, laying the groundwork for future market cooperation.
"After multiple on-site visits, we found that Guizhou South Dairy Co, a leading dairy company in Guizhou, operates standardized farms and a full-chain production control system. Its high-quality products are capable of entering high-end overseas markets," said Zeng Tao, Secretary-General of the HK Friendship Association of Guizhou Province. "We want to help the company bring more of Guizhou's quality ecological products to the world." Based on this strong foundation of cooperation and market opportunities, the HK Friendship Association of Guizhou Province took the lead in coordinating with Guizhou South Dairy Co to begin the application process for Hong Kong milk import qualification in August 2025.
According to Jiao Bing, director of the company's safety and operations development department, the two products approved for Hong Kong are the Huadu Ranch 250-milliliter selenium-enriched pure milk and organic pure milk, both shelf-stable products processed using mature ultra-high-temperature sterilization technology. With a six-month shelf life, they fully meet Hong Kong's milk import standards.
"Receiving approval for Hong Kong's market is a strong recognition of Guizhou's ecological milk sources and product quality – and a breakthrough for a local dairy company aiming for high-end international markets," Jiao said. The company will maintain strict quality control and bring authentic, high-quality Guizhou milk to Hong Kong consumers, continuing to strengthen Guizhou's reputation for ecological dairy products.
The entry of Guizhou milk into Hong Kong is significant, as it not only demonstrates that Guizhou's agricultural products can meet the high standards of international markets – setting an example for the province's farming and food companies looking to expand overseas – but also broadens the export channel for Guizhou products, utilizing Hong Kong as an international hub to reach Southeast Asia and beyond.
