Sengmany Daravong, Consul General of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Changsha, led a delegation to Guiyang for an official visit on June 17.

Han Liyun, Secretary of the leading Party members group and Director of Guiyang Foreign Affairs Office, met with the consul general and his delegation at a symposium.
Other attendees included officials from Guiyang Bureau of Education, Guiyang Bureau of Commerce, and Guiyang Bureau of Culture and Tourism, as well as representatives from Guizhou College of Electronic Science and Technology.
During the meeting, Han provided an overview of the economic and social development of Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area. She also expressed hope of establishing a communication and cooperation mechanism with Laos, to strengthen pragmatic collaboration in areas such as trade and economy, culture and people-to-people exchanges, education, and friendship-city relations.
The participating municipal departments each gave detailed presentations on their current cooperation with Laos and put forward proposals for future collaboration in their respective fields.
Daravong noted that the Lao government is currently placing a strong emphasis on the development of clean agriculture, deep processing of minerals, infrastructure construction, and logistics and transportation.
He expressed hope that through the day's talks, both sides could advance in-depth cooperation in these sectors. He also said the consulate would serve as a bridge to facilitate the introduction of Lao students to study in Guiyang.
Following the meeting, the delegation visited Guiyang Vocational and Technical College for an on-site tour.
