Guiyang to host 2 international climbing events

The World Climbing Asia Youth Championship Guiyang 2026 and the World Climbing Series Guiyang 2026 are scheduled to take place consecutively from August to September at the Guizhou Caihu International Climbing Center, as announced at an Aug 14 press conference in Guiyang.

The World Climbing Asia Youth Championship Guiyang 2026 will be held from Aug 21 to 25, with 213 athletes from 16 countries and regions participating, for a total of 310 entries.

The championship features disciplines including lead, bouldering, speed, and speed relay. This will be the second time the championship is hosted in Guiyang.

During the championship, a marketplace will be set up around the venue, featuring more than 20 merchants that combine climbing gear, outdoor equipment, and event‑themed cultural products with specialty coffee, local cuisine, and other urban consumption experiences.

The event will also offer public‑friendly admission tickets and ticket‑stub linkage activities – spectators can redeem designated cultural creative products with their ticket stubs, or enjoy consumption discounts at designated merchants.

From Sept 11 to 13, the World Climbing Series Guiyang 2026 will follow. The Guiyang stop will focus on speed climbing, with the addition of speed Relay and mixed speed relay events. In 2026, the World Climbing Series will have four stops in China, with Guiyang being the only city in Southwest China to have secured hosting rights for two consecutive years.

The Guizhou Caihu International Climbing Center is equipped with three international-standard climbing walls. For the World Climbing Asia Youth Championship Guiyang 2026, a technical team of 13 route setters has been assembled.

Guiyang will also coordinate security, medical services, transportation, reception, and volunteer services to form a multi-department collaborative event support system that links on-site response with designated hospital care, ensuring fairness and safety while enhancing the competitiveness and spectacle of the competitions.
