The meeting was held as Guiyang seeks to expand its friendly exchanges across the Caucasus region, building on the partnership between Guizhou province and Georgia's Imereti region.
During the meeting, representatives introduced their respective cities' economic and social development and exchanged views on friendship city partnerships, tourism promotion, and youth exchanges. They also discussed potential areas for future cooperation.
Following the meeting, the participants will maintain regular communication based on the understandings they reached at the event and explore practical ways to advance exchanges and cooperation in tourism, sports, education, trade, and other fields.
Kutaisi, capital of Georgia's Imereti region, is one of Europe's oldest cities. It served as the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Georgia for an extended period and boasts a rich cultural heritage. The city is home to numerous historical landmarks, including Gelati Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Guizhou and Imereti formally established a friendly provincial-level partnership in September 2024, laying the foundation for closer exchanges between Guiyang and Kutaisi. The latest meeting marks a further step toward strengthening international ties and exploring opportunities for collaboration between the two cities.
